Holocaust - genocide of Jews during the World War II

I know it's not the Holocaust rememberance day today... but it was on the 27th January... to tell the truth, it wasn't like marked on my calendar, reminding me to remember of that day.. but isn't it normal?? nobody actually remembers the bad things... well.. nobody actually tries to remember them...

But in this case, it's a part of history that was seriously in humane... against human rights and being racist (religionist?).... yet... it's a day that we should forever engrave in our hearts, to remember the mistakes of our forefathers and learn from the past.....

Sir Nicholas Winton did something great back then...... he's a Briton who organised the rescue of 669, mostly Jewish children from German-occupied Czechoslovakia on the eve of World War I (think about great timing!!)... Winton found homes for them and arrange for their safe passage to Britain... starting a new life with foster parents....

what he did was, is and forever will be remarkable and remembered... he might not have looked at it thinking that he's going to make much of a difference.. but it did...

If I ask you to picture a scene underwater what would come to your mind? 1) The beautiful, majestic coral teeming with beautifully coloured fishes or 2)a dead sea with hardened ground and no life?

Before I go on,
Do you know coral reef, called the rainforest of the sea house one of the most diverse ecosystem in the world and is largest structures made by living organisms? (Coral reefs are living structure) Unfortunately, Coral reefs that took millions of years to build have been disappearing within just decades as a result of human activities.

The greatest collection of coral reef is located at the north-east coast of Australia, the Great Barrier reef. Does that location strike a bell? Yeap, the great barrier reef is located close to Queensland, the land currently suffering from flood. As water floods into the seas west of the reef, it inevitably freshens the environment around the reef; which is not good news.

Freshwater kills corals.

Pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers and sediment - mud - are washed off the farms, into the rivers and then onto the reef. Floodwater, with is cargo of mud and nutrients, is pouring into the sea from the Fitzroy and other riversThe fertilisers do in the sea what they do on land - stimulate the growth of plants.But here, that is a problem, as the marine plants cover growing coral, choking it to death

Not only are properties destroyed, human lives lose, even the marine life suffer!

It's been a long time since the last blog!! almost a year in fact.. sorry for deserting this blog for so long.......>.<

Life is good in Cambridge... I just finished my retake this week.. (utterly annoying.... =.=") I am having a whole day free today without a single lesson due to classmates having exams and class cancelled.. so yeah.. super free!!

It's difficult to decide on my first topic since I had such a long break before this.. The only thing that came to my mind is this new anime that I really liked... (wanted to talk about Economics but lets go a easier topic)

Since this is a NEW year... a NEW anime came out... ^^ and I highly recommend this anime....:

It's about a young delinquent picking up a little baby and it turns out that the baby is a demon king. What I like about this anime is the humour that makes me unable to stop laughing.... the manga is also most popular manga at the moment....

Back to cooking!!!

it's been awhile since i've posted something.. my school internet is to be blamed for it!!! =)

it's been such a stressful week!! i mean it was exeat at first then Sharon & I left for Netherlands (whoever didn't know this... YEAH we went to Netherlands).. so we practically missed a whole week of school.. when we came back i was sooo not in the mood to study.. i mean NETHERLANDS man!! i need time to settle down again.. but after that.. who knew i had exams day after day....

anyways.. we decided to cook fried rice mid tests period.. well for me, it was more of a de-stressing period.. in brunei it used to be baking but i guess i have to compromise here.. it was the first time cooking at Bateman House!!! they practically have nearly everything.. except the most essential 0.O... "PEPPER!!!!!!".. well I mainly did the cooking and they did the wash-up.. washing up is such a bore... so yeap!!!

My exam started and also ended three weeks ago. We then celebrate Gina's birthday in Red chilli (a chinese restaurant). I love their seafood soup there. At first, i was kinda pissed because the waitress didn't understand what i wanted to order. Then they even served the wrong dish but in the end the manager came out and asked again so in the end we could eat peacefully. Overall, the service wasn't that bad. When the bill came, they didn't charge for the service. Damn tan tio(not paying for what we were supposed to pay).

In the past three weeks, many things have happened. Sprained my ankle, argued with someone, then led my break down, changed bedroom.... Talking about changing bedroom, we were asked to change because our original room is undergoing a makeover. New colour for the walls, new lamps, new carpet... I can't wait!!! I like the new room though. it's really damn cosy. Half term is coming soon! Going down to London again and going to celebrate my first chinese new year in UK; first chinese new year eve without my family. T.T... shall end abruptly here..

ps: LOTS OF PREP(HOMEWORK) TO DO!!! STRESS!!!

So, here comes 2010....

First and foremost...

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

Looking back, 2009 passed by rather fast than i could imagine. It's a year full of slacking i swear. Getting into college, waiting for O level results, chinese new year spent with lots of awesome people, lots of parties, going in and out from moe, waiting for their calls, waiting for an answer, FULLLLLL OF WAITING, going overseas with friends for the first time, spending huge amount of money, going abroad to study, meeting lots of new people, see another part of world with my own eyes, learning new things, learning how to be independent, learning how to adapt, learning how to give and take, learning how to....... lots more. It's never ending...

So i've been thinking whether to have a list of new year resolutions or not... I clearly know that i can't fulfill it or make it happen. Well, there will be less disappointment when there is less expectation isn't it? HOWEVER... I'm still going to list down things to do/things to be done/wishlists for this year.

1) Save money $$$$( to fulfill point no 3)

2) freaking get a driving license

3) get latest iphone

4) ace every tests/exams

5) Stronger relationship

6) Stronger friendships

7) Everyone in my family to be happy and healthy

8) Have a better temper

9) Be slim and pretty

10) Lose weights on the thighs and tummy and face areas; around 5 kg. ( to fulfill point number 9)

11) To get a nice bag

12) Meet XXXXXXXXXXXX

13) Nice flawless skin (k, highly impossible)

14) Grow taller, jump jump jump!!!

15) Become more mature inside NOT outside (apparently, i don't look my age, I look 22) what do you think?

16) Go overseas with friends again.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I didn't do much today. Most of the shops are closed. I'm waiting for tomorrow when the mega crazy sales is going on. Yeaps, BOXING DAY.

I will declare bankrupt after tomorrow. I think I'm going out at 12 am when LV shop is open. I don't think they have any sales though and i wonder why they open the shop at such timing. 12 am some more.

I'm going to selfridge, topshop, next, h&m.... basically all the shops along oxford street and bond street. hah.. MAN, I'm seriously gonna be broke. T.T Burning a BIG HOLE in my pocket. T.T

I'm going to save up next year. I WILL I WILL.

I have been wasting my holidays doing nothing productive beside the camp. I haven't started revising my JANUARY module. ALL of them. I think I'm going to continue wasting my holidays sleeping and going out for walks. I just can't concentrate and you can say I'm hiding away from the fact that exam is 2 weeks away.

Right, I'll start after boxing day. Hopefully.

I'm feeling really x12392394609642079269 cold now. It's snowing outside and if I'm not mistaken, the temperature is -5 degree celsius. OMG OMG jumping up and down, swinging my hands, shaking my head, placing my face to the heater(which is not working) to make me feel warm. Psychologically, putting my face near the heater will make me feel warm. Ok, this is when someone who is feeling too cold that whatever they say is not making any sense.

I swear my feet are freezing. Oh, hi newcastle. At least this is better than the boarder of Scotland which i went for the last 3 days for Christmas retreat and it's snowing everyday. We had snowball fight/war. HAHAAH... Good times. Walking on the snow, looking back all the new footprints made by you, seeing so many white for the first time, forgetting about the cold, forgetting about the past, forgetting about anything that's troubling you. Suddenly, you just feel the burden on you shoulder being taken away and carried away and you're free, so free. You feel a sense of peace; emptying your mind and allowing the still air and the beauty of snow and the silence replace the noise of our busy daily lives, the worries, anxiety, the workload, pressures and everything.

It's so amazing how snow is form from droplets of water and fall freely from the sky so gently, softly and slowly. This reminds me of the wonders of God. His creation so beautifully made, our lives He carefully planned, His promises to us. What more can we ask for? What more can we, someone who don't deserve the gift from Him ask for?

My world is your world

I was in gina's studies and this is the wall in her studies. The poster belongs to Debbie. It was last week of term and no one has any mood for anything else. I'm not a BIG FAN of Taylor Lautner but i have to admit that his body is HOT. I went 'gaga' over his body when i was watching new moon. The picture is for the sake of posing la.

One day plus to London and four days plus to Newcastle and then... EXAM!

Exam really spoils the whole holiday mood. I really don't like the fact that when you just return to school, the next thing you know is exam.

Mock exam is over. We have mock exam in the last week of term. WTH right? Again, spoiled the mood of looking forward to holidays. On the brighter note, we don't have prep time and we can do whatever we want and of course what do we do? PACK!

Guess wad? I don't know why is it because our school is damn poor or damn liu bin( money face) that they are opening the college house( where we stay) for people to stay during the holidays. In other words, it's lets. URGHH. IT'S DAMN ANNOYING. We have already settle down and put our stuffs in places and now we have to remove everything. YES, EVERYTHING. This includes the poster you put on your wall.

We asked for meal leave yesterday to catch paranormal activity. OH PLEASE, if that's scary. Let me show you some other asian films. I thought it's really scary and i was so anticipated for it and in the end, i nearly fell asleep for the first 3/4 of the movie. I was so looking forward for some horrors. It's really disappointing. I seek for extreme thrills, horrors and whatever you name it. I am planning to go to London's tomb. GOOGLE IT. Apparently, it's the most scariest place in London. They even won the award of being the scariest tourist attraction or something and it's near London bridge or directly below London bridge.

K la, im still looking forward to holiday minus assignments, essays, revision etc.
