Listening to music

hey peeps,

its been a long time since my last blog... has been jobless for the last month but just couldnt bring myself to start blogging.....

There has been a certain topic on my mind to blog about... finally today i decide to type it out...

Today I left the music playing in my laptop in my room and then went downstair to the kitchen to get a drink. While in the kitchen, I realised than I could hear my music in the kitchen, C-L-E-A-R-L-Y, I could discern each word of the lyrics. To be honest I was quite shocked as I thought the music wasn't that loud. Back in the room, I checked my volume, my laptop was in full blast, duh. How you ever experience that? Few months ago, I saw this episode of embarrasing body and they talked about a very normal habit nowaday.. listening music with headphone and tennitus.

Basically, Tennitus is the ringing of the ear after listening to music. In the worst case scenario of coure it could lead to loss of hearing ability and thus the need for hearing aid. I have always known that listening to music with headphone cause lead to loss of hearing ability.. but isn't that what everyone is doing? Everyone listens to music.. all the time, everywhere.

But what everyone is doing isnt always right.

Something that I copied and paste:

Here are some tips to help prevent ringing of the ear and the possibility of permanent tinnitus.
  • 1.If you are using headphones frequently, take them out of your ears every so often and give your ears a break.
  • 2. If your ears hurt after using headphones, you are listening to the music too loudly.
  • 3. Do not fall asleep with head phones on.
  • 4.Don’t turn the volume up on your iPod to mask external noise.
  • 5. Invest in a pair of in-ear-canal headphones. These seal out external noise so you tend to listen to your music at a lower volume.
Watch out for point 4! This happen in gym, train and car. To those that are going to UK thats a good tip, in train and tube(london) the noise can be so loud that I have to turn up my music but thats the wrong move. Better just watch the scenery( black wall for tube =P) or read a book/ newspaper!

I love listening to music.. but I would hate it even more tob wear hearing aids and having people yelling at me when I am in 30s because I cant hear properly anymore.....

Do be wise in choosing when and where to listen to music......

Remember:
Prevention is better than cure and...

Majority is not always right.

Just be yourself.......=D

Hope my advice doesnt fall on deaf ears.....
